Rockville Ice ArenaLocation:
| The Rockville Ice Arena, a two sheet operating facility with pro shop and restaurant amenities was purchased in 2004 at public auction. The property was immediately master leased to its largest ice licensee, Montgomery Youth Hockey Association (MYHA) on a long-term basis. MYHA, a 501(c)3 is the second largest youth hockey program in the country with more than 1,100 members. In 2007, the building was retrofitted with more energy efficient dehumidification equipment and a third sheet of ice was added. To mitigate the expense risk of MYHA, Maven Renewable Energy Ventures, installed the largest roof mounted photovoltaic solar panel electric energy system in the state of Maryland, meeting one-third of the Rockville Ice Arena’s electricity needs at a fixed price for the next ten years or more and producing approximately 846,440 kilowatts hours (kWh) of electricity per year.
